With more and more developers recognising the potential for ecology and land use by achieving BREAAM accreditation, one of the UK’s environmental consultancies has boosted its team of specialist ecologists with recent appointments at its Inverness, Edinburgh, Stanhope and Mold offices.
The strengthened Atmos Consulting team will help the firm to meet growing demand for due diligence assessments and mitigation strategies stimulated by the introduction of the new BREEAM 2015 Scheme Document.
Credit points are available under both the CSH (Code for Sustainable Housing) and BREEAM’s Ecology or Land Use and Ecology categories, respectively. Some of these credits are only available following a site visit and production of a report by a SQE (suitably qualified ecologist) and the recent appointment of Kristen Keyes at Atmos’ Inverness regional office brings the firm’s team of SQEs to 21.
Atmos Consulting’s ecologists visit sites throughout the UK to determine their ecological value, where and how features of ecological value can be retained and protected, and how the site may be enhanced for biodiversity. Their services then extend to post-construction reviews and on-going monitoring that are an integral part of the BREEAM process.
